**THIS IS THE VIRTUAL EMOTIONAL ACCESS CLASS.
Course goals:
This class is designed to expand your emotional range and capacity. The aim is to teach you how to create deeper, more interesting, and more consistent performances.
Why this class:
Perhaps you have discovered that certain emotions are a lot easier for you to reach than others? Or, you know you’ve already got a great emotional range, but are looking to gain more reliable access to it? You’ll find these emotional access techniques surprisingly useful in both your dramatic and comedic work.
What to expect:
Students will learn and practice techniques as well as hear lectures and participate in group discussions. Every student will spend an hour or more of every class actively participating.
Some of the things we’ll work on include:
• Grounding
• Meditations
• Breathing Techniques
• Setting Triggers
• Word Sinking
• Emotional Objects
• Emotional Rolodexes
• The Surprise of Surprise
• How to Get In and Then, Get Out
• And Much More
A safe space:
Creating a safe place for an actor’s work is very important. For this deep emotional work, it’s vital. Students will never be pushed to share anything they don’t feel safe sharing. Also, exiting challenging emotional states will always be given as much weight as entering them.
